Bilal Ambikapathy

Bilal Ambikapathy is a partner specialising in real estate, hotels, and private equity. Bilal is consistently ranked as one of the region’s leading real estate and hotel lawyers and previously led Baker McKenzie’s real estate and hotel practice in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Qatar for 14 years. Bilal previously worked in several leading British and Australian law firms and has lived and worked in the Middle East since 2005.

He has a commercial practice focusing on domestic and international hotel projects and real estate transactions, principally in Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East and North Africa region. Bilal works on all aspects of the hotel industry, including hotel development, acquisitions and sales, mediation, termination, joint ventures, and funds. Bilal has negotiated over 120 hotel management agreements for hotel owners against all the world’s leading international hotel operators.

Bilal acts for real estate developers across all asset classes within the real estate sector, including shopping malls, office space, retail, residential, and food and beverage. He also has a keen understanding of those areas that support and facilitate the real estate and hospitality sectors, including renewable energy, agriculture, and hospitality infrastructure.

Bilal regularly acts for investment banks on the formation of real estate funds and REITs in Saudi Arabia and on the acquisition and disposal of assets owned by funds. Bilal has been involved in the establishment of funds in Saudi Arabia since the inception of the Real Estate Investment Fund Regulations and has direct experience of how the approach to funds has evolved over time, both in terms of regulation and market sentiment.

Moustafa Said

Moustafa Said is a partner specialising in real estate, hotels, and tourism. He has extensive experience in real estate, particularly in hotel and branded residence developments. Moustafa was previously a partner at King & Spalding, where he led their Real Estate and Hotels practice in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for many years. Moustafa previously worked in several leading British and Australian law firms and has lived and worked in the Middle East since 2006.

With considerable experience in the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and many other jurisdictions in the region, Moustafa represents property developers, banks, facility managers, consultants, and others in a variety of real estate ventures. He frequently handles property structuring, development, leasing, facilities management, and joint ventures, along with other commercial matters.

Moustafa also advises owners and operators on all aspects of hotel and branded residence developments throughout the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

He has been recognised as a leading real estate lawyer by Chambers Global from 2014 through 2022 and by Legal 500 EMEA for 2014, 2016, and 2017 through 2022.

Hael Musa

Hael Musa is a senior associate specialising in real estate, hotels, and tourism. He has extensive experience across a broad range of areas including large-scale mixed-use real estate development, negotiation of hotel agreements, branded residences documentation and structuring, acquisition and disposals of various asset classes and retail, commercial, and industrial leasing.

Prior to joining Wisefields, Hael worked as a real estate lawyer at leading US law firm K&L Gates and King & Wood Mallesons, the largest international law firm in the Asia Pacific.

Hael advise clients, including landowners, property developers, consultants, financiers, and other stakeholders across various asset classes, including hotels, office buildings, shopping malls, residential, infrastructure, retail, and food and beverage. He frequently handles complex contractual negotiations with interested stakeholders and handles property structuring, development, leasing, and various other related matters. He also assists his clients by delivering clear and strategic advice to achieve commercial outcomes.

Hael has also been recognised as a Property and Real Estate Rising Star by Doyle’s Guide Australia for the year 2022.

Leith Sawalha

Leith Sawalha is an associate at Wisefields. He has acted for developers, government authorities, and institutional and finance investors in major property development work, complex acquisitions and disposals, and commercial leasing transactions. Leith has worked extensively with ancillary transaction documents, including deeds of assignment, deeds of novation, deeds of covenant, unit transfer forms, as well as post-completion transaction obligations, including regularly liaising with clients in respect of those obligations.

Prior to joining Wisefields, Leith worked in one of Australia’s leading law firms, King & Wood Mallesons, as a Real Estate Solicitor.

Leith now applies his expertise in real estate to the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the broader Middle East region.

Kiran Chatha

Kiran Chatha joined Wisefields from CMS London, specialising in commercial real estate, including acquisitions and disposals, large-scale developments and leasing transactions. She has significant experience working with developers, landlords, and investors across diverse sectors, handling transaction documents, due diligence, and complex deals. Her notable transactions include the £27m disposal of a business park, the acquisition of land for the development of residential units, and the £41.3m acquisition of student accommodation. Earlier in her career, she worked for Shoosmiths LLP, where she was involved in transactions including a £780m joint venture, bidding for a £6.5bn supermarket acquisition, and several innovative income strip deals exceeding £700m.
